Iagor Peres

1995 | Rio de Janeiro – RJ

He lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.

In his sculptures and installations, Iagor Peres is guided by the desire to transform the notion of thing through a process of re-categorization of matter. Based on the relationships established between the work, the exhibition environment and the public, Peres pays attention to the range of reactions between matter and the conditions of humidity, temperature and meaning that affect them. These material configurations reflect the artist’s questioning of the difference-producing mechanisms of white-Western thought that affect racialized existence. His experience in dance is also reflected in his emphasis on the body and its dynamics of appearance and withdrawal in space.

His solo exhibitions include Entresol, Pols, Valencia, Spain (2024); Postpone the night, Futures – Art and Technology, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2024); When lightning strikes the sand, Quadra, São Paulo, Brazil (2023); He also took part in the group shows An interstice in all parts at once, AGUASS, Barcelona, Spain (2024); HEAT, Quadra, São Paulo, Brazil (2023); PIPA Award, Paço Imperial, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2023) and Possible agreements, Mendes Wood DM, Brussels, Belgium (2022) and Cytoplasmic opera, MON – Oscar Niemeyer Museum, Curitiba, Brazil (2022).
