Once upon a time: visions of heaven and earth is a group exhibition organized as a journey through time and space to reflect on the end of the world and the imagination of other worlds. The show, which takes place in the Grande Galeria of the Pina Contemporânea building, brings together the perspectives of 33 artists from different generations and backgrounds in Brazil and around the world, whose productions allow us to glimpse the confrontation between different logics of inhabiting the planet and, above all, inventing it; a journey through time and space to reflect on the end of the world and imagine new beginnings.” [excerpt taken from pinacoteca.org.br]

The installation, created in partnership between Quadra and Nonada, is open to the public from September 14th and can be visited until January 25th.

“Twelve linear systems made up of tubular LED lamps and wires are distributed around the Nonada Penha site. Each one starts from an element that already exists here, such as a railing, a bench, a stone, a tree, etc. They all make their way towards the shed, entering through gaps in the ceiling, holes in the walls, etc. In each of these situations, a light bulb signals the entry of a new body into the space.

The installation culminates with the gathering of these luminous bodies in the center of the shed. A thirteenth body, with a single light bulb of a slightly different color temperature, installed only inside the shed, falls from the ceiling and touches the floor of the space.

12 is a celebration of the life of life, of light. It’s an invitation to listen carefully to the place, to walk around the shed and discover the sacred beauty that exists in everyday life.” writes the artist.
