Arora
2000 | Rio de Janeiro – RJ
bio
She lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
Arorá has built up a pictorial repertoire that favors atmosphere and texture over figures, which sometimes evade identification. Under the brushstrokes and accumulated layers of her apparently monochromatic paintings, the artist allows rarefied images of nature, metamorphic landscapes and cosmic environments to appear. In her installations and sculptures, she explores subtle balances and properties of matter in materials such as iron, cement and pearl, awakening affinities and contrasts, correspondences and frictions between the occupation of space and its transformations.
She has a degree in Visual Arts from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). She has held solo exhibitions such as Abertura, Quadra, São Paulo (2025); After the lost star, Quadra, Rio de Janeiro (2023) and The suspensions, Galpão Bela Maré, Rio de Janeiro (2023). He has participated in group exhibitions at venues such as MAM Rio de Janeiro, Galeria Vermelho, Paço Imperial, Galeria Athena, Solar dos Abacaxis and Fábrica Bhering, as well as in international exhibitions such as Magic Echoes: Brazil Diasporas Vibrant Encounters with Ancestrality (M+B, Los Angeles, USA). Recent group exhibitions include: The Terrible Dust, Quadra, São Paulo (2025);
The Icon Conspiracy, Quadra and Fortes Daloia & Gabriel Partnership, Carpentry, Rio de Janeiro (2024); Dancing on the shore, Bhering Swimming Pool/Factory (2023); Emotion to deal with, Quadra, São Paulo (2023); Unidentified object, Athena Gallery (2022); Manjar Nascente, Solar dos Abacaxis (2022); That’s what we live for Galeria Vermelho/Ateliê397 (2022); Folds, Paço Imperial (2021), among others.
