He lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
In his projects, Gilson Plano remains attentive to how formal aspects can manifest (im)palpable qualities and relationships, such as the notions of fiction and enchantment. As he produces relationships of force and balance, tensioning weight and forms, Plano creates material links as devices that produce symbolic, narrative and historical meanings. Throughout his oeuvre, the artist investigates the imaginary of form and thought in Brazil, also working with educational actions and the management of contemporary art programs.
His solo exhibitions include Misterioso laço, Quadra, São Paulo, Brazil (2024); Birds and stones, GDA, São Paulo, Brazil (2022); How to raise storms, CCSP – Centro Cultural São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil (2022) and TURVO, Duplex Air, Lisbon, Portugal (2021).
