She lives and works in São Paulo.
Life and the dense web of human relationships in cities is the starting point for most of Manuela Costa Lima’s work. Building a dialog between the body and the visual and architectural record of the city, the artist produces sculptures, drawings and installations whose challenge is to reveal these glimpses of displacement. Using construction materials with organic elements, Costa Lima directs her gaze through procedures such as joining, veiling, revealing and illuminating, which animate and tension the urban fabric.
Her recent solo exhibitions include 12, Galpão NONADA, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2024); Open SystemsPiscina, São Paulo, Brazil (2023); Noites Brancas, Quadra, São Paulo, Brazil (2021).
