Marcelo Pacheco develops encounters and poetic situations that explore instrumentality and material availability. By producing spatial arrangements with minimal components in wood, metal or fabric, concatenating textures and patterns with attention to the plastic effects of repetition, Pacheco shares an alterity of pleasure in the decorative fact of objects and in being in the world of things. Pulling his materials out of a passive lethargy, the artist activates chromatic and spatial frictions, converting unusual three-dimensional elements into pictorial language.
His solo exhibitions include Wind wood, Quadra, São Paulo, Brazil (2023); Seeds in your pocket, Casa de Cultura do Parque, São Paulo, Brazil (2021) and Zebra stripes and things without parents, Quadra, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2021). He also took part in the group shows Of bias, Quadra, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2024); Look at the mountains, Quadra, São Paulo, Brazil (2024); A chair is a chair is a chair, Luisa Strina, São Paulo, Brazil (2024); Thing free of thing, Massapê Projetos, São Paulo, Brazil (2023) and Roots of intelligence, Gisela Projects, New York, USA (2023). Pacheco f was nominated for the Pipa Prize (2020) and is part of the collection of the Rio Art Museum (2024).
